Getting there

You can travel in your own 4WD vehicle to Fraser Island via two different access points (as shown on the map)!

Please note:​

• Vehicle access permits must be purchased prior to arriving on the Island from the Queensland National Parks Website.
• The two barge options (as shown on the map) leave the mainland at different locations, these are:​​
  
  • Manta Ray Barge from Inskip Point (Rainbow Beach), you can find bookings and permits on the Manta Ray Barge website or at the Rainbow Beach Booking Office.
    
  • Fraser Island Barge from River Heads (Hervey Bay/ Fraser Coast), to either Kingfisher Resort (Kingfisher Bay Ferry) or Wanggoolba Creek (Fraser Venture Ferry). 
    
• If you don't have your own 4WD vehicle or would like to hire one you may hire a 4WD here with Fraser Dingo 4WD Adventures, who operate out of Hervey Bay. 
  
• Alternatively, you can travel via plane to the island on Air Fraser, via the Fraser Island Taxi service or another 4WD hire provider. 
  
• Please be advised that you will be driving on the beach, so be aware of the tide times to ensure you are driving at low tide. These can be found on the Bureau of Meteorology or Willy Weather website. 

Please note: You must have a proper 4WD vehicle to get to bringabeeralong. It is advisable to travel on the beach during low tide only.
